Hot off the press is the album design for Sara Beth Raab of Southern Design Studio. I enjoyed designing every page of this 80-page whopper! This is one of the first albums that I designed for Ben Chrisman Photography of New Mexico. He’s a destination wedding shooter who … frankly … his work just knocks my socks off!! This album was from a wedding in Mexico. It features lots of warm steamy colors and a bold modern design. (Check out the firedancers!) Ben is a photojournalist and I worked to make sure that no cropping of his images were done - sacrilege! To see more of Ben’s work visit www.benchrisman.com or to check out his photojournalism work visit www.benchrismanphotography.com. To learn more about HappyFish Design visit www.happyfish.com.

Since moving from Maui to Arizona - I’ve been yearning for the beach. When Earl Christie of Mermin+Christie contacted me to design a Turks & Caicos / Boston wedding album I jumped with excitement! Earl’s images were so much fun to work with. The first page of the album sets the scene - then heads right into the fun of the sailing party they had for their guests. After the wedding they had some fun shots of just the two of them. The album finishes off back at home in Boston for their reception lobster-bake. The design of this album features lots of negative space, lots of fun color to reflect the setting and good clean modern design. Thanks Earl for the fun project! I am happy to say that I get to chat with David more than Chad does these days ….
! I love working with David, we have so much fun together! I was challenged by David to design an album worthy of his personal artistic philosophy - and bring a unique perspective to showcase his work. He is a purist who respects the artistic language of photography. My challenge was to be zenlike …. to use intelligent & generous use of negative space, no clutter, no color (or hardly any color), and let the images speak for themselves - no fluff. This vibrant seaside wedding was a pleasure to do - great natural color, nice details … Here are a few pages. To see more of David’s photography visit his site at www.dtuckerphoto.com. When I heard that fellow-Canadian Brian Tao of Luxography had a very unique project for me … my ears perked up. His clients wanted their wedding album to be like a magazine - complete with an interview editorial portion. To incorporate the large amount of body copy was quite a challenge - but one that I enjoyed. My goal was to accomodate the text - while keeping within our set number of pages AND make sure it’s interesting, and use as many images as possible. We achieved all of these goals and Brian’s clients are very excited to get their truly unique album. A few pages are shown here, but when I get a moment I’ll post up the book at the HappyFish Gallery. To view more of Brian’s work check him out at Luxography. The Luxography Blog is updated frequently with amazing work and shouldn’t be missed!!

I ADORE designing albums for families!!! I just had the opportunity to work with Jennifer Dunn of jclare studios on her project for a family of 3 energetic brothers. You can see the joy and emotion in their faces as they play and hang out at their home. The great thing about photographing children - is that they are so genuine. They aren’t concerned about how they look, which is their good side … they are who they are! Little ones allow us to relive our childhood again, get down to their level and HAVE FUN !!!! Here are just a few pages - to see more visit the HappyFish Design gallery. To see more of Jennifer’s work - visit her at jclare studios.
Update: Hey, I just noticed that Jen added shots of this book on her blog - how very cool to see it in the flesh! whoo hoo! Check it out!

I hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving! I know you’re frantically working hard to get your clients everything that they have dreamed of before the end of the year. Some of the album companies “by-Christmas” deadlines have already passed - or are about to pass … remember to breathe - we’ll all get through it with an upbeat attitude and a smile on our faces.
I better get back to work …..
